The Split Self Closing Mock Ring

I had searched online to see if I could find out if you could do a split self closing mock ring. I did not find anything but instructions on how to do the self closing mock ring. No one seems to do them as a split ring. I decided since I really need it, to try it myself. Since I found it was really rather simple, I put this short video together to show how it is done. I stopped short after making the first stitch of the last 5 to keep the video short. I have a photo below the video of the exact finished ring.

  1. Very clever, Tim! I'll give it try.
Houtz brothers have a split/scmr technique in their books and Randy kindly shared it with me to share on my blog. I've quoted him here - https://tipsaroundthehome.blogspot.com/2018/08/the-correct-guess.html
But his technique uses 3 threads, whereas you have achieved the same result in 2!! Well done & thanks for sharing :-) The scmr truly is a versatile and adaptable technique.
