Sometimes things take a turn for the weird. Look at the pictures this time and tell me if this is a tatted doily. It sure looks like it could be. These are the best pictures of it I can get. I did try but this is it. When I saw this I was just stunned a bit. I know I could make it. Does anyone know where I found it?
More on this tomorrow.
I guess it could be tatted. Is it a plastic doily? I've seen those in the past. Did you find it in an antique shop or a Goodwill type place?
ReplyDeleteIt is not a plastic doily. I did not find it in any store or shop. I do want to make this though. If I can get time.
DeletePic is not clear enough to tell for certain.
ReplyDeleteBut if you wish to tat it, here's how I would do it - start with the inner split ring round, throwing off very very long picots on either side. Then make the inner rosette, joining 4 picots to each ring after 'opening' them up --- look for hairpin tatting for ideas.
Then tat the 3 outer rounds.
That's what I was thinking too, Muskaan. And in the inner ring, it looks like the long picots are overlapped. Interesting to say the least. I will probably do the math to get the picot lengths.(calculate circumferences.)
DeleteYes I think this is tatted. It certainly could be. Like you I would love to try it but don't know when I'll find the time
ReplyDeleteLooks like tatting to me.
ReplyDeleteYou can do this I measure length by the size of the rings with double stitches :)
